Paying for it

Your Health Fund, and What It Actually Covers

Preferred provider for nine funds at all six clinics, with HICAPS at the desk so the rebate comes off on the spot.

If you are choosing a dentist based on your fund, this is the page you want. We are a preferred provider for Bupa, HCF, nib, Medibank, Defence Health, Teachers Health, CBHS, Westfund and HBF, at every one of our six clinics, and we claim through HICAPS at the desk.

With item numbers, so you can check

Choosing a dentist on your health fund is not a small thing. The difference between a practice that has an agreement with your fund and one that does not shows up on every single visit, for years.

The Funds

We are a preferred provider for all of these, at all six clinics:

  • Bupa — Members First Platinum
  • HCF — More for Teeth
  • nib — First Choice
  • Medibank — Members Choice Advantage at our Ingham and Bowen clinics
  • Defence Health
  • Teachers Health
  • CBHS
  • Westfund
  • HBF

What Preferred Provider Means, Without the Spin

It means we have an agreement with the fund about what certain treatments are charged at. In practice that usually means a bigger rebate and a smaller gap than the same treatment at a practice with no agreement.

What it does not mean: that everything is free, that your annual limits go away, or that a treatment your policy excludes is suddenly covered. Preferred provider changes the gap. It does not change your policy.

Claiming

HICAPS is on site at every clinic. Swipe your card at the desk, the rebate is applied immediately, and you pay the difference. There is no form to post and nothing to chase.

Every written quote we give you includes the item numbers. That is deliberate: it means you can ring your fund and ask exactly what they will pay on those items, rather than being told a general figure and hoping.

No Cover? Still Options.

  • Child Dental Benefits Schedule, bulk billed for eligible children at all six clinics.
  • DVA card holders are seen at all six clinics. There is more on our page for veterans.
  • Queensland Health vouchers at Emerald, Bohle Plains, Ingham, Innisfail and Townsville.
  • Interest-free payment plans through Afterpay, Zip, humm and DentiCare.
  • Early release of superannuation through SuperCare, for eligible treatment.

There is more detail on our payment options page.

All Six Clinics

Important: Rebates, annual limits and waiting periods are set by your health fund and depend on your individual policy. Preferred provider arrangements affect the fee charged, not what your policy covers. Confirm your entitlements with your fund. Fees are provided in a written quote.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Bupa (Members First Platinum), HCF (More for Teeth), nib (First Choice), Medibank, Defence Health, Teachers Health, CBHS, Westfund and HBF. That applies at all six clinics.

It means we have an agreement with the fund covering what certain treatments are charged at, which usually means a higher rebate and a smaller gap than you would get at a practice without one. It does not mean everything is free, and it does not change what your policy covers or what your annual limits are. What it changes is the gap.

You do not have to. We claim on the spot through HICAPS at every clinic: swipe the card at the desk, the rebate comes off immediately, and you pay only the difference. No forms, no waiting for a transfer.

Ring us and we will look at it with you, or ring your fund and ask for the rebate on the specific item numbers we quote you. We give you the item numbers on your written quote for exactly this reason. Guessing at what a policy covers is how people end up with an unwelcome surprise.

Then you pay the quoted fee, and there are still options. Interest-free payment plans are available through Afterpay, Zip, humm and DentiCare. Eligible children are bulk billed under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. DVA card holders are seen at all six clinics. Queensland Health vouchers are accepted at Emerald, Bohle Plains, Ingham, Innisfail and Townsville. And early release of super through SuperCare is available for eligible treatment.
