Townsville is a garrison city and the surrounding towns are full of people who served. We accept the Veteran Card at all six of our clinics. Where treatment is provided under DVA arrangements, DVA’s fee is accepted as full payment, so there is no gap for you to find.

If a long appointment is the obstacle
If you hold a Veteran Card, the practical question is usually not whether a practice will see you. It is whether you will be asked for a gap at the desk, and whether the bigger work means being sent to Brisbane. Here the answers are no and no.
The Gap
Where a dental service is provided under DVA arrangements, the DVA fee is accepted as payment in full and there is no gap charged to you.
There is one qualification worth knowing before you need it. DVA applies a Biennial Monetary Limit to certain high-cost items, such as some crowns and bridges, currently $5,980.30 over two calendar years and indexed over time. If your treatment plan involves items that would take you past that limit, a co-payment can apply. We tell you that at the planning stage, in writing, rather than at the end.
Some services also need prior financial approval from DVA. We arrange that before the work is done.
Gold Card and White Card Are Not the Same
A Veteran Gold Card covers dental treatment that meets a clinical need, provided under DVA arrangements.
A Veteran White Card is narrower. It covers treatment relating to your accepted conditions, and the dental consequences of cancer treatment. If you hold a White Card and are not certain whether what you need falls inside it, bring the card in and we will work through it with you before anything is booked.
The Bigger Work, Without the Trip South
This is the part that matters if you have been putting something off. Implants are placed at all six clinics, and the complex surgical work is done at Bohle Plains and Kirwan rather than referred to Brisbane. Dentures, including implant-retained ones, are made at every clinic. Surgical extractions are done here.
For people who have not been for a long time, sedation options are available too, including intravenous sedation in house and general anaesthetic with a visiting anaesthetist. Several appointments worth of work can sometimes be combined into one session. There is more on our sedation page.
