Dental Care Made for Sugar Country

Ingham is where our story started. Dr Navdeep Singh opened the first My Family Dental clinic here in 2013, in a cane-farming community that has grown sugar on the Herbert River since the 1880s — Victoria Mill, just east of town, remains one of Australia’s largest sugar mills. Our patients are cane farmers, mill workers, tradies and their families, and the clinic runs the way this town works: practical, friendly and on time.

One thing many locals don’t realise: Ingham’s town water is not fluoridated. Hinchinbrook Shire Council stopped adding fluoride to the supplies serving Ingham, Forrest Beach and the Lower Herbert in May 2017. That makes regular check-ups, professional fluoride applications and fissure sealants genuinely more important here than in fluoridated cities — particularly for kids, and for older patients at risk of root-surface decay.

With a median age of 49 across the town, Hinchinbrook is a proudly multi-generational district — from the families behind the Australian Italian Festival at TYTO Parklands to retirees who’ve farmed the same block for decades. We care for every stage of that story: first check-ups, family dentistry, crowns, dentures and implants — all here on Herbert Street, so nobody has to make the 110 km drive to Townsville for routine care.

Common Questions

Ingham Clinic FAQs

No. Hinchinbrook Shire Council stopped adding fluoride to the water supplies serving Ingham, Forrest Beach and the Lower Herbert in May 2017. Without fluoride in the tap water, regular check-ups, professional fluoride applications and fissure sealants do more of the heavy lifting for your family’s teeth — especially for children and for older patients at risk of root-surface decay.

For most care, no. Townsville is around 110 km south — about 75 minutes each way on the Bruce Highway — and our aim is to keep that drive off your calendar. Check-ups, fillings, crowns, whitening, children’s dentistry and dental implants are all provided at the Herbert Street clinic.

You’ll find us at 5/55 Herbert Street, on Ingham’s main street. We’re open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Call (07) 4776 6055 to book.

Yes — that’s the point of the name. The Ingham clinic cares for young children through to grandparents, which suits a district where many families have been here for generations.
