Braces move teeth gradually, which means adjustment appointments every few weeks for a year or more. We fit and adjust them at all six clinics, so those appointments happen in your own town rather than at the end of a long drive. Metal, ceramic and Fastbraces are all available, and so are clear aligners.

Straightening teeth is not a single appointment. It is a long, slow, gentle push over many months, and what decides whether it finishes well is usually not the day the braces go on. It is whether the twenty appointments after that are easy enough to keep.
Three Systems, All Six Clinics
- Metal braces. Stainless steel brackets and a wire. The most robust, and the option that handles the widest range of movements.
- Ceramic braces. Tooth-coloured brackets, far less obvious at conversational distance. Usually what adults are asking about.
- Fastbraces. A different bracket system, available at every clinic. Whether it suits a case is decided at the assessment.
Alongside those, clear aligners, which are removable and close to invisible and work only for the hours they are worn. Having both means the recommendation follows the case rather than the stock.

Who Provides It
Orthodontic treatment at My Family Dental is provided by our general dentists, at every clinic. If a case needs care beyond what general practice should be taking on, we will say so and refer, which is a better outcome than starting something that should have gone elsewhere.
Retainers Are Part of the Treatment
Teeth drift back towards where they came from. A retainer worn as instructed is what holds the result, and that commitment outlasts the braces themselves by years. We go through what it involves before treatment starts, not on the day the brackets come off.
What It Costs
The fee depends on what needs moving and how long the case runs, so you get a written quote after the assessment and before anything is fitted. Orthodontic treatment usually sits under a different part of a health fund policy than general dental, so whether yours contributes depends on your cover.
